The basement I was sent to was filthy, had no air conditioning, and suffered two power cuts. I was charged 50 euros, then another 100 euros, and left to clean it myself. The owner had also rented it to other guests, so I had to share it with people I didn’t know. One family took a look and left. My towels were in a cupboard inside another guest’s room, and the owner woke them to retrieve them. On another occasion he knocked on sleeping guests’ doors because he didn’t have their keys. Completely inappropriate and unprofessional. I’d booked five nights by phone. When I arrived, the owner said all the rooms were occupied, despite spaces showing on Airbnb, then said he’d found somewhere for me and I shouldn’t worry. Check-in was listed as 3:00 PM. He’d warned me there could be delays, so I arrived at 3:30 PM, but when I called from outside, the room still wasn’t ready. I was told to wait until 5:00 PM. While he made the bed, he had me move chairs around in other rooms because he was alone. In the end, he put me in a basement in another building 200 meters away. He invited me to dinner, which I declined because the attention felt too intrusive. I’ve read the positive reviews and honestly feel embarrassed. This was an experience I won’t forget. If you can avoid it, don’t go, even if it’s cheap.

You can sit in the furnished courtyard with a good coffee and hear nothing but crickets. It’s a rare kind of calm, away from the city’s noise. Alessio is kind and honest, and makes you feel as though you’ve been part of the family forever. Saying goodbye was almost tearful. 10/10, and we’re already planning another visit in September.

The only real drawback was the bathroom, which didn’t even have hand soap or other amenities. Otherwise, we had a lovely stay: a welcoming family feel, clean and well-furnished rooms, and a homemade breakfast that was good. The owner paid close attention to guests.

We got there after booking and found the place shut. A neighbor fortunately helped us find somewhere else to stay. This feels like a scam, so be careful.
