Hotel Europa

We'd prepaid for this hotel weeks ahead for our daughter's graduation trip. When I emailed to say the train would be late, they replied that check-in was only from 3 to 6, so I paid for a backup hotel in Minori for the first night. The next day, the two girls went to the hotel and were told their prepaid rooms had been given away because they missed that first check-in, even though the hotel knew from my email that they were on their way. The response was essentially, too bad. Two teenagers were left with nowhere to go after the hotel double-booked a room. Unsafe and unprofessional. There needs to be action against this kind of practice.

We were three people traveling on a budget, and after staying here we all thought it was a good fit for the price and location. The reviews had made us nervous beforehand, but a cleaner came each day and having a bus stop right outside made getting around the Amalfi coast easy. We'd recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable place.

Minori itself was beautiful, but we won't stay at this hotel again. The room was very noisy from traffic on the nearby road, and sleep was hard. Cleaning was supposed to happen at 10, so sleeping in wasn't possible, yet when the room was occupied then, the cleaner didn't return and it was never cleaned. Asking for fresh towels made me feel rude: the receptionist called the cleaner to check whether we'd already received some that day. We also weren't allowed to leave the room key at reception when going to the beach. Service felt unappreciative from the start. The woman who greeted us seemed to have no time for paying guests; everything was rushed and impolite compared with other hotels in the same price range. The area left of reception was cluttered with plastic bags and piles of documents. The owner or receptionist may reply in all caps, but there's no need. We won't be back.

This hotel feels stuck in the early '90s, with no investment since then. There was no fridge or kettle in the room, and after cleaning, the cleaner's belongings were left behind. The balcony was dirty and untidy, including the table and chairs. It's right on a bend in a very busy road, so you hear every vehicle passing, even small ones. Poor value for money. A place like this should cost at least 50% less.
