Albergo Teatro Romano

The family has run the hotel for at least two generations, and the owner, his mother, and children were lovely. We also had a really good meal at the hotel restaurant. Since Italy has a zero-tolerance policy on drinking and driving, eating there meant we didn't have to worry about driving after wine. Policemen were dining there before us, which gave us confidence the food would be good. We chose the full menus, with antipasto, primo, secondo, dolce, water, and coffee. The meat menu was 32 euros and the seafood one 35. Falanghina Beneventano was reasonably priced, and our waiter was formal, very polite, and helpful. It was an excellent meal. Breakfast was simple Italian fare, with fresh cornetti and good coffee made to order, not from a DIY machine. The hotel isn't especially modern, but our room was spotless. The bed was comfortable, though the pillows were quite thin. The bathroom was spacious, the water hot, the linens nice, and there were outlets on both sides of the bed. There's no hairdryer in the room, but the front desk quickly provided one. Its location is hard to beat if you're visiting the archaeological park. The ancient aqueduct and a poignant British soldiers' WWII cemetery are also an easy walk away. We'd stay again if we're back in this part of Italy.
