Hotel Malga Passerella

We stopped at what looked like a nice restaurant while waiting for the bus, and I ordered a cheese and salami plate for four. It had prosciutto crudo, probably assiago cheese, some brie, tirole speck and milano salame. Nothing special, but quite good. Since the bus was coming, I wanted to pay beforehand, but the local “mama” wouldn’t let me. Then they charged 40€ for it. In Cavalese, much better plates cost 25€. I said it seemed expensive, but it was hard to communicate in English, so I paid and left. Later I saw two people from the stuff talking in Italian about how that amount was too much. They seemed friendly, so I don’t know why they did that. I’ll never go back and wouldn’t recommend it.

The hotel’s two big strengths are its spot right on the ski slopes and the delicious food.

We had a good time overall as two or three couples staying at Hotel Alpen Lucia. The hotel is clean, the rooms are tidy, and towels were changed regularly. The location is hard to beat, right by the ski lift, just a few steps from the slopes. Luisa was especially warm and helpful, and the staff were attentive and friendly. There’s a lot of care in the kitchen, with homemade jam, freshly baked bread and plenty of other homemade dishes. Breakfast was okay, though we would have liked more variety, and coffee was only available from a machine. They did accommodate our requests and prepared extra dishes fresh for us. One couple in our group of three had to cancel at very short notice for health reasons. When we called to ask about a voucher or partial refund, the tone was rather unfriendly and unhelpful. She kept saying the room would be rebooked for other guests, but a refund was out of the question. At check-in, we initially weren’t given important details like breakfast times or where the ski storage room was, and we felt somewhat pressured. Despite those early problems, the great location, cleanliness and dedicated staff make the hotel recommendable.

Magnificent for a ski holiday, with the hotel on the slopes, a partner ski rental shop and QC Terme nearby. The spa has a bathrobe and Turkish bath too. Our room was large, with a balcony and views of snow-covered mountains, and the restaurant was top-notch. The food was delicious, and the staff were excellent, understanding and friendly. Best hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Fantastic!
