Hotel Vallechiara

The food and stay had their good points: the staff were genuinely kind, the room was clean, breakfast was excellent, and dinner was decent. We were also moved into a room larger than the one we booked for our five-night stay starting March 25. It faced the road, though, so it was noisy unless we used earplugs, and we had to keep the windows shut because of the pollution. The bigger problem came when my 12-year-old daughter and I were stuck in Pozza for two hours waiting for a bus back. At 6:30 PM, the timetable showed no buses, so I called the owner for help. He said he was too busy and about to leave, and couldn't even call a taxi. He later called back from his mobile because call forwarding was on, which was odd. After he recognized my number, he didn't answer for the next few days. Maybe he was worried we'd be stranded again. We got back only because someone at the tourist information office arranged a bus after ours failed to arrive. That evening, we came down to dinner at 7:55 PM with wet hair, and the owner gave us a disapproving look. We've spent the past nine years choosing hotels where we can leave the car behind and get around by bus, even with skis and boots. It's convenient for us and better for air quality. I don't blame the owner for the missing buses, but a little extra empathy in that situation would have made a difference.

There were 20 of us from Italy and France, including young children, and we had a fantastic week. Maria and Cristina looked after us with so much care, while Geani, the owner, was friendly and kept everything running smoothly. We loved the warm, welcoming atmosphere, and the food had us looking forward to dinner every night.

We only stayed one night, on half board. The owner was warm and friendly, and made us feel at home. The location was good and our room was clean, though a little dated. Breakfast was the letdown. There wasn't much choice, and the savory options amounted to just three cured meats. I'd come back if they improved the breakfast selection.

The little spa was just right for unwinding after skiing, and San Pellegrino is only a 10-minute drive away. The hotel is clean and quiet, with handy parking out front and a good spot for exploring Moena on foot. Staff were friendly and the food was good. The rooms look a bit dated, but the bathrooms are brand new. I'll definitely come back.
