Garna Lago Alpino

I was at the Garni for the XTERRA World Championship off-road triathlon and was struck by the beauty around Lago Molveno and how spotless everything was. The room was immaculate, with a comfortable bed and a lovely walk-in shower. The renovation included sustainable touches, like the lights only coming on when your key card is in the slot. It was so quiet I slept pretty well, almost like a tomb 😆 Breakfast was included and had a generous, delicious spread. Fresh fruit, muesli, croissants, meats, cheese, vegetables, and cappuccinos were a world away from the prepackaged bagels and muffins served as “continental breakfast” at North American hotel chains. The couple running the Garni were lovely and hospitable. It had rained most of XTERRA week, so my friend and I had muddy clothes to wash. When I asked about guest laundry, the hostess offered to do it herself. I was floored. She returned everything freshly washed in a bag, neatly folded. I wish I’d gotten her name! The lake and a few restaurants are just a short walk away, and the views of the Dolomites are incredible. I’d DEFINITELY stay here again. Grazie mille!
