Hotel Excelsior

The room was functional and fine, and the girl at reception was very kind and helpful. The lake view was lovely, and the hotel is close to the water in an excellent location. The food was the weak point for me. The apple rice tasted like plain rice, despite the name, and the boiled potatoes were so bland and unseasoned that I left them. The other dishes weren’t anything special either. The buffet ran out quickly and was mostly vegetables and cold cuts. Breakfast was simple, with brioche, cured meats and eggs, but no cakes. The hotel has a lot of potential, and I hope this feedback helps improve the parts I found questionable.

The lake view was incredible, and the service was okay. But I was disappointed with the cleanliness and meals. The room was dirty, and there was a dusty smell from the sheets, pillow, blanket and inside the wardrobe. The blanket in particular seemed as if it hadn’t been washed in a long time, and its smell had spread through the wardrobe. I ended up cleaning things myself. I paid for breakfast and regretted it because there wasn’t much choice. In my view, both the cleaning and the meals need improvement.

We were only passing through with three e-bikes, and a very nice woman at reception went out of her way to find a safe place to store them overnight. Ten stars for that! The hotel is in a fantastic spot, with a breathtaking lake view from the balcony. The inside and the rooms are a bit dated, though. We had to leave early, so I can’t say anything about breakfast. We still felt very comfortable and would gladly return if we get the chance.

The price was reasonable, and the breakfast buffet had plenty to choose from. The young receptionists gave us a warm welcome, and my wife and I had a room with a breathtaking view of the lake. We’ll be back.
