Lake & Nature Hotel Gloria

The balcony gave us lovely views, and we were right by the lake shore. We're glad we picked Hotel Gloria in Molveno. The staff were friendly, and we felt it was good value for money.

For a few days, Gloria is fine as a place to sleep, as long as you don't expect too much. Its best points are the location right by the lake, the gorgeous views from most balconies, and free parking nearby. The room facilities seemed about right for a three-star hotel, though some things had been renovated. The sauna was in good condition too. A few things dragged the stay down. Breakfast was average, with items often running out even though it wasn't high season. Dinner was okay, but the short window from 19:30 to 20:15 made eating at one of the nice nearby restaurants more convenient. Staff tried to be friendly, but some didn't seem sincere, and their limited English made it tricky to get help or discuss some things. Having to leave the room key at reception felt very inconvenient and outdated. It also meant the hotel could tell whether we were in our room, which felt like a privacy issue. Looking closer, there were loose cables, a noisy toilet fan, and a safe that needed a huge key.

The hotel sits right in front of the lake and is wonderfully quiet, with balconies looking out over the water. It has an authentic feel, so give it a try if you want a different sort of stay. I booked through the website, but it only offered direct bank transfer, with no credit or debit card option. Asking people to send a large amount straight to an international bank account felt very much like an internet scam. I cancelled right away, and then got a demand for a cancellation fee. Be careful, the website might be a scam.
