The location was good and the room looked okay, but there was an electrical problem, the shower was broken, there was no ventilation or air conditioning, and the room smelled of urine. The mold was the worst part: black mold covered the ceiling, everything felt damp, and the smell was so bad it hit our lungs. We had to leave the front door open all night just to make it bearable. This felt unhealthy and like a safety hazard. The owners seemed well aware of the mold but kept renting the room to tourists, which is wrong. We called this the worst experience we've had in Italy. The owners offered to compensate us for one of our three nights if we found another apartment before their deadline, but by then it was too late, and that wasn't enough anyway. They should have compensated us regardless, but instead they ignored us. This ruined our whole stay in Monopoli. Believe me, stay away from La Vitagira.

We had such a good time in Vita, right in the heart of Monopoli. Staying in a 17th century townhouse made our time in Italy feel like a dream. The apartment is spacious and clean, with everything you need, and the owners were professional to deal with. You can also rent bicycles. We have great memories and will definitely come back one day. I recommend it 100%.

We were 10 people and rented 4 rooms. The historic center of Monopoli was a lovely setting, and the breakfast area was beautiful. We had a really good stay, and the accommodation also has private parking.

We were a family of six and booked two apartments for five nights, but after the first night we moved elsewhere. The bathroom in the lower apartment smelled strongly of damp and sewage, so my wife and I couldn't sleep in the adjoining room. The bathroom vanity's hot water tap didn't work, and the fridge-freezer was so iced over that even its door wouldn't shut, leaving us unable to keep food cold. There was mold in the showers and on the stone roof, which is a serious health concern and also reflects badly on Booking.Com for representing La Vitagira. We messaged the host about these problems but waited hours for a reply. We were told he wasn't available until the following afternoon. Relocating was expensive, but worth the cost. We couldn't rate the accommodation or host. LA VITAGIRA, STAY CLEAR, damp and moldy. The website isn't what you get, it was misleading.
