Playa del Mar

We only stayed one night, but had a lovely time. The beach just across the way is really nice, and the rooftop terrace with its two pools is great. Our room was comfortable and nicely decorated, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and breakfast was plentiful and tasty. It's obviously not a five-star hotel, but the value for money is excellent.

We really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was very good, and the staff were helpful. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Monopolis city center. Our sea view was lovely, and the spacious terrace wasn't crowded, so it was a nice place to relax. The rooms were modern, clean, and large enough, with a good price to quality ratio. The in-room jacuzzi wasn't very convenient. The pool is fine for cooling off, but too shallow for swimming, so I went across the road to the beach instead. It has sand and clear water, though it gets crowded.

We left really disappointed. This was meant to be the most luxurious stop on our few days travelling around Puglia, and at nearly 300€ a night for a room with jacuzzi, it was also the most expensive. The jacuzzi was noisy and broken, with almost no bubbles. The room had some damage, and there was a lot of mess at reception. Construction noise on the terrace didn't help. Breakfast was one of the worst we've had in italy. There wasn't much choice, and you couldn't ask for more. The room came with a whole book of rules, including a 100€ fee if you lost the key card. They charged 5€ to store luggage, while other hotels and B&Bs included that even when rooms cost 100€. This was supposed to be a lovely, luxurious stay, but it wasn't worth the price. I do not recommend it.

We spent five nights in a humid room that sometimes got above 30 degrees Celsius, and couldn't cool it down because the air-conditioning never worked. The owner kept saying it would be fixed the next day, but it never was. We left frustrated and exhausted from nights without sleep. There was no offer of compensation, just a dismissive attitude towards us. For the price, we expected working AC and a reasonably clean bathtub. This so-called hotel advertises itself as classy summer accommodation, but that didn't match our experience.
