La Vecchia Sassa

A little shop and restaurant are just a minute from the house in the village, and Florence and Pisa are each about an hour away by car. It's a peaceful, beautiful place to enjoy Tuscany. The host is lovely and can share tips about the region if you need them. The house and grounds were clean, safe, and charming.

Ciao! Ingrid and I stayed in the Raffaelo apartment at La Vecchia Sassa in early October 2023, and it was a fantastic visit. The property and apartment were both great. Cinzia, the owner, was a very kind, service-minded lady. Regards from Norway, Andreas and Ingrid.

The pool and grounds were nice, and overall the place had a lot going for it. Still, the basement bedroom smelled of sewer, felt damp, and had centipede problems. We complained, but she couldn't fix it. The air conditioning also had issues, and they charge extra for it. We had to ask for toilet paper each time, then wait until she came the next morning. It would have been easier if they left a couple dozen rolls in the laundry room for residents to use. There was no offer to reimburse us for any of the problems or inconveniences. I'd rate it 2.5 or 3 out of 5.

We had a fantastic view from our villa, and the kitchen was well equipped. La Vecchia Sassa is a charming estate where you really feel the Tuscan atmosphere. San Gimignano, Sienna, and the beach are all within an hour. There's a small shop along the road, but for bigger shopping trips you'll need to drive to Montaione. There were lots of mosquitoes, so don't forget spray. I'd suggest putting a mosquito net in the villa's main bedroom. Thanks to Chinzia for her great hospitality.
