Only four couples were seated the night we went, and a group of nine was turned away, so reserve ahead if you want a spot outside to watch the moon rise over Tuscany. The fixed menus feature excellent homemade local dishes, presented beautifully. A guidebook had called the place basic, so our expectations were low, but it was actually quite smart and gourmet. One of our best dinners in two weeks in Italy. Absolutely brilliant.

We only went to the restaurant and didn’t stay at the hotel, but it was easily the best dinner we had in Italy. The hosts made us feel like family, the food was delicious, and the patio was gorgeous. Such a magical evening. Highly recommend.

I’d been searching for a traditional farm town where I could eat authentic food cooked by a nonna before leaving Italy, and I think I finally found it. The food was amazing and traditional, a real change from the tourist food you find around Italy. Seeing the menu in Italian rather than English made me think I was in the right place, and it was so good. Ask about the Olive oil demonstration, too. It really opens your eyes to the quality of store-bought olive oil compared with how it’s supposed to be made. Highly recommend!

The garden setting overlooking the Tuscan countryside adds so much charm. The Etruscan cooking was stunning and the food quality astonished me, all at a very high level. I’d gladly return to Montisi just to eat here.
