We loved our stay and only wish we'd had longer. The setting in the garden is beautiful, the hosts are wonderful, and breakfast outside was lovely. Duccio was especially friendly and helpful. Grazie mille!

Porta Castellana was the highlight of our trip. Dida made us feel right at home, and Anna Lisa was a fantastic host who did everything she could to make our stay comfortable and share her best tips for Montalcino. Breakfast is available at the property, and there's parking too. It's within walking distance of many restaurants and makes a handy base for exploring Tuscany's scenic spots. We hope to come back. One tip: follow Dida's directions to reach the property, because Google sends you somewhere else near the end. The roads are narrow, so avoid renting a big SUV.

Our flight was canceled unexpectedly just one day before we were due to arrive. I canceled the reservation as soon as the airline told me and contacted the property to explain, asking if they might consider a partial refund as a goodwill gesture. I never heard back on the booking platform or on WhatsApp, where I think I may even have been blocked. I understand the cancellation terms and don't dispute them. I had booked two nights with free cancellation, but the flight was canceled after that period had passed. Still, I tried to be honest and transparent during a very stressful situation, and the silence was deeply disappointing. We had really been looking forward to staying there, which made it even more upsetting. I'm not writing this out of anger, but genuine disappointment, and hope travelers dealing with things beyond their control can sometimes be met with kindness and understanding. I also want to clarify this because I can't reply directly to the owner's public response. I asked only whether a partial refund could be considered, and received no response. Some communication or compassion in such an unexpected situation would have meant a lot.

Annalisa's restaurant recommendations in town were priceless, and breakfast each morning was a lovely surprise, with different dolci to start the day. We spent seven days here as a base for exploring the Tuscan hills, staying in Ulivo after a nice upgrade. The duplex apartment was spacious and had everything we needed, including a fully equipped kitchen and an amazing bathroom. From the first day, Annalisa welcomed us with warmth and respect, and treated us like family. Thanks for having us. A tip: use Annalisa's directions when driving in and out of town. Google Maps sends you down a gravel road, which can be stressful before you even arrive.
