Cruise Hotel

The parking made this a handy place to stay with a rental car, with plenty of spaces and an underground garage. Our family suite was spacious, comfortable, and laid out well, and the staff were warm and helpful. A couple of things needed fixing: the dressing room handle was broken and part of the bathtub was damaged. Even with those issues, I had a great stay and would recommend it.

The room cleaners did a good job, and I'd give them four stars. The rest of the stay was closer to two. Staff seemed unfriendly and hardly smiled, and the hotel was noisy enough that relaxing was difficult. The internet also didn't work properly. There were broken glasses in the breakfast area, which felt dangerous. On top of that, a bad smell from the bathroom pipes spread into the hallways. I wouldn't recommend it if you're after a quiet, restful stay.

After staying here 3-4 times a year for five years, including this last visit, I'm done. Each time something has been broken or failed to work, and staff have had excuses instead of real solutions. The location is a plus, right by the Autostrada exit and close to the Swiss border and Como, but there are much better hotels nearby. This time I paid extra for a room with a garage because I needed to charge my car overnight before an early departure. I requested it ahead of time and got email confirmation. When I arrived, the charger was out of order. The receptionist seemed to know already and wasn't surprised. He told me to use a public charger 200 meters away, even though I'd paid extra for this service. The room was around 30°C and unbearably hot, with no working AC. The same employee said the hotel doesn't really offer air conditioning, just a “refresher” system, basically warm air from a fan that made the room hotter. He went away for 5-6 minutes, then came back saying he'd set the “refresher” to 18°C and the room would cool 😂. That was the last straw after years of excuses and misleading explanations. They apparently can't even keep straight who they've told what. Breakfast is terrible and overpriced. The rooms and bathrooms are consistently dirty, and I even found hair on the pillows that clearly wasn't mine. Avoid this one, you'll thank me later.

The train is useful for getting around, Como is €2 and 15 minutes to the lake, while Milan is €6 each way. We walked from the railway station in less than the stated 15 minutes. Do check the directions, though, because there's a busy autostrada and it's easy to go wrong. The hotel's huge fluorescent sign is handy. I booked well in advance, probably when prices were lower, and got a good rate compared with places in Como. Check-in was great and the staff friendly (inter-sadly). We had a twin and a single, without breakfast. At first there were two of us, then another mate wanted to come. When I asked by message for a third bed, they said we'd need an executive room. The twin was €349 for four nights, while the exec was €669. I booked a separate single-occupancy room instead for €246, which was cheaper than the executive room, so that saved me money 🤔. Breakfast on the first floor cost €15 per person, which seemed excessive. I tried it on Sunday morning and it was actually very good, with loads of hot and cold choices: juices, coffee, yoghurt, cereal, meats, cheeses, and cooked spinach 🤔. I asked if I could grab a coffee on my first morning and they let me. The bedrooms were great, with comfy beds and pillows and a powerful shower. There was a fridge with pop, beer, and water, but no coffee, maybe that's why they let me take one for free. It was pretty quiet, and I slept with the window open. All in all, after the first night, it's a good choice!
