Hotel La Giara

Mr. Pino was friendly and had helpful recommendations, and the hotel offered good value even during high season. The rooms were spacious and clean, with modern bathrooms. We had a terrace with a table, chairs, and loungers, and a lovely view of the beach and Scogliera. Breakfast was modest in size but really good. The hotel’s own parking lot was useful, and the location made it easy to reach the village market, ice cream shop, beach, and several scenic spots. The nearest lido was a minute away on foot. The Scogliera nightclub is close too, but it stayed pretty quiet inside even on loud evenings.

We stayed two nights with our two-year-old, and breakfast was included. The garden overlooks the sea and has lots of room to relax on the loungers. There’s also free indoor parking. The hotel was comfortable and welcoming, and worked well for us since we weren’t looking for particular comforts. The rooms aren’t modern, but they’re fine if you’re out all day and mainly need a place to sleep. Towels were provided, and the fridge was roomy and practical. The bathroom was comfortable. In my room there was no bidet, just a hose beside the toilet that you could use to clean yourself, using the toilet as a bidet. Breakfast runs from 7:30 to 9:00. You can get cappuccino, coffee, and similar drinks at the bar. The croissants are self-service and weren’t the freshest; there were also juices, jam, packaged chocolate, and toast. A warning for anyone traveling with children in summer: I don’t know if it happens every day, but since we arrived on Friday, there were parties on the beach just below the hotel, with disco music going until 4 a.m. In my room it felt as if I was right there. Luckily, my daughter sleeps through anything.

The location is excellent, just a two-minute walk from beautiful Pietragrande beach. There’s gated private parking, and the bathrooms have been newly renovated, though the rooms themselves still feel a little dated. It’s a good option for a simple weekend away. The staff were friendly and quickly sorted things out when the air conditioning stopped working by moving us to another room.

The garden shaded by trees, with places to sit and look down at the beach and Pietra Grande rock, was a lovely spot to relax. We’re sorry to leave, but knowing we’ll be back makes it easier. The property is also very well placed, a two-minute walk from both the public and private beach, and close to restaurants, the Soverato seafront, and the main roads. Our room was clean and had a balcony facing the sea. Housekeeping came daily, and the staff were kind and attentive. The manager was friendly and did what he could to make guests’ stays better. Breakfast was Italian style, with croissants, Kellogg's, toast, fruit juices, and coffee served by the very kind Mr. Pino. Reserved parking was available too. Recommended.
