Tuscany Inn

The room was clean and practical, with a comfortable bed and a balcony. The bathroom was clean too, though dated. Breakfast had a good range, including gluten-free options, and should suit most people. Parking was available, and check-in was fantastic: the woman at reception was helpful and knew her stuff. The third-floor room wasn't very soundproof. We could hear a neighbour's TV until midnight, and with the busy hotel there were kids shouting in the corridor past 11. The lift was dirty, and the carpet between it and the room was pretty gross. It's a budget-friendly place.

Anna at reception gave us lots of useful local information and suggestions for things to see. The staff were helpful, and the location was excellent if you want to visit Pisa, Florence, or both. We were four family members travelling with friends and stayed two nights. Our room was spacious and clean, and breakfast was fresh, tasty, and had plenty of choices. We'd gladly recommend the hotel.

The buildings around the hotel looked abandoned or partly ruined, which made the surroundings feel unpleasant. Inside, the lift light was broken and seemed to have been that way for a while. The hotel also uses disposable plastic cups for rinsing, which comes across as cheap and unfriendly to the environment. Connecting to Wi-Fi was a hassle because guests had to log in with a personal account. There was no drinking water or kettle in the room, and hot water from the restaurant cost extra. Even two stars feels generous. I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you have no other choice.

The hotel and rooms are very dated, with scuffed and damaged walls. It needs major upgrades. Find somewhere nicer.
