Castello di Monterado

The service really made this stay. I was traveling with a broken leg, and the staff moved us to a ground-floor apartment and helped coordinate a third-party pickup for our luggage. The apartment itself was perfect, and the main Castello is beautiful, with amazing views. Breakfast was included, which was handy. We'd definitely come back.

The breakfast seating outside has a breathtaking view, with sunflower fields stretching toward the blue Adriatic nearby. We also loved the spacious, clean room, comfortable bed, and view over the Marche countryside. Orlando, who lives locally and owns and runs the 19th century castle turned hotel, was often at the front desk; when he wasn't there, his friendly, capable staff were ready to help. The stairways, sitting rooms, and grounds were well kept. The place keeps its original character while being updated and comfortable. A real change from the formulaic modern chain hotels.

The restaurant food was delicious, the service there was excellent, and breakfast was amazing. We felt welcome from arrival right through check-out. A spectacular stay in a historic building surrounded by beautiful nature.

I came back after a few years and found the place had improved even more. I have so many good memories here. The food is magnificent, the staff are warm and lovely, and the scenery feels unique. The rooms and breakfast terrace stay with you, and the whole place is beautiful and full of history. It deserves a sixth star, really a gem in the middle of Italy and more than worth it.
