We aren’t even wine drinkers, but decided to do the winery tour anyway, when in Rome. It turned out to be such a cool, unusual experience. Our guide knew the subject really well, and the view was gorgeous, even better than pictures can show.

I came with a tour group. The host clearly knew a lot about the winery, but the place itself was terribly maintained. The cellars were dirty, with thick, unidentified mold on the walls and dirt caked on the floors. The winery has an ancient history and was apparently used as a bomb shelter at one point. There were antique bottles on display, but a heavy layer of irritating, dusty grime covered everything, so I wouldn’t want to breathe near them. I’ve toured several wineries and have a sense of the cleanliness I expect. I didn’t buy anything here. I’ve posted pictures.

The wine tour included with our stay was a perfect finishing touch. We spent 12 nights here in early July 2024 and loved the pool. The apartments in the little village create a nice community among fellow travelers, and Montespertoli is close by for supplies. What a location!

We chose this place for its lovely charm, and the estate’s history is interesting too. The shower is tiny, Italian style, but we enjoyed everything else. A fantastic place to stay.

Fabio made the wine tasting fun and was an excellent host. He explained how the wine is made, and the wines we tried were amazing. The vineyard and its buildings sit in a beautiful spot.
