Corte del Passone

Montevecchia is in the park of the same name, a well-kept area full of trails and valley views that stretch towards Milan, where you can even see the new skyscrapers of Porta Nuova and Milano City, as well as the mountains. There’s countryside quiet here, along with all the local smells, and small farms where you can buy authentic products as dairy, farming, and winemaking traditions are being revived. Corte del Passone makes a great base for food trips, hiking, horseback riding, or visiting cities, or simply for relaxing. The residence itself is beautifully renovated from part of a monastery, mixing old flooring, exposed stone, and thick walls with modern comforts. Every apartment has its own character, from small studios and duplexes to a suite with a double whirlpool tub in a huge, enveloping bathroom. They all have kitchens and what you need to cook for yourself. You can arrange delicious breakfast delivery, and meals too, either at the house or at the adjacent Il Passone restaurant, with its terraces and outdoor spaces. The food is sublime, with menus that change monthly, carefully prepared from high quality ingredients with original touches and excellent pairings. The residence is spotless, thoughtfully detailed, and has attentive service. It’s easy to reach from Milan by major roads or country routes through the villages.

The Alloro apartment is a charming two-storey place with a rustic modern feel. Upstairs are two bedrooms, one double and one single, plus another bathroom. Almost every room has air conditioning, except the bathrooms. Downstairs there’s a fully equipped kitchen with pots, pans, cutlery, condiments, dishwasher, oven, and so on, along with a sofa, TV, table, and bathroom with a shower. There’s a restaurant right next to the residence, a lovely green park, and a small riding stable nearby where you can go for a walk. Highly recommended if you’re looking to relax.

The owners are friendly, and the excellent restaurant says a lot about the quality of the place. The residence itself is excellent too. I’d just put a bit more effort into cleaning, with some dusting and cleaning inside the drawers and closets.

I already knew the restaurant but hadn’t stayed at the residence before. Last weekend we tried it for our wedding, with 20 people staying there, and we were all amazed. It’s a stunning location, clean and beautiful in every way. Highly recommended!
