B&B SanPaolo

The pool was the one good part. The location was inconvenient too, at least 25km from Olbia. The rest of our stay was really disappointing. When we arrived, the owner was away and a family member showed us to a room that looked nothing like the photos. We got the smallest, least comfortable one, even though we were the only guests in the building. We asked for a balcony room because we smoke, and he wanted an extra €180. Since we'd booked through Airbnb, asking for that money "under the table" wasn't legal. After we managed to speak with the owner, he said we could have the balcony room for the price we'd already paid. He also said breakfast was included, but on both mornings we left early and found nobody there, with the bar completely closed. We were left alone throughout the stay in a place that wasn't ours, with the gate always open and no automatic gate, so anyone could have come in. The next morning, we asked to change rooms. First we were told it might be better to ask for €100; then he changed his mind again and said he'd give us the room if we prepared breakfast ourselves. He said being there in the morning to have breakfast ready was too much effort, despite having told us breakfast was included. On the second evening, we got back from the beach to find the power out and no hot water. We waited half an hour for Paolo to fix it. We didn't enjoy the stay at all. This isn't how you should treat guests.

The cool mountain air made sleeping in summer a dream, about -10 degrees Celsius compared to the city, and the quiet and nature around the place were lovely. The pool was huge, very clean, open all the time, and had beautiful mountain views. We also appreciated the peaceful setting and the cooler climate as a break from the heat. Our room was spotless, well organized, and had everything we needed. Getting there was easy, about 15 minutes from Olbia, and Paolo welcomed us like a friend. He and the staff were always around to help, and we felt at home straight away. We were there during the Red Valley event, and B&B San Paolo worked perfectly for young people partying all night, sleeping in, and having a very late breakfast before recharging by the pool. Having a big fridge and chest freezer for organizing cool bags for a concert or beach trip mattered a lot. Nowhere else do they allow that. A heartfelt thank you to Paolo and everyone at the B&B. You made our holiday wonderful. We'll gladly be back. ♥️

The peaceful outdoor area and the green space around the pool were lovely. The hotel is out in the Monti countryside, though, and part of the road to reach it is bumpy. There are 10 rooms, all upstairs on the first floor with no elevator, which is a struggle with luggage. The rooms aren't well soundproofed. Early in the morning, doors slamming and the keys hanging from them made for an alarm clock. Breakfast had very little choice. It wasn't a good stay.

We waited until 9:00 a.m. on departure morning for someone to come and serve breakfast, then left without seeing anyone from the establishment. There were croissants covered in foil on the bar counter, left from the day before. Maybe those were meant to be our breakfast? The place was open to anyone coming and going, with no checks, and nobody had been there to welcome us either. At 7:00 p.m., I called the owner to report what had happened and said he could at least have let me know. He was rude and hung up. A terrible experience, definitely somewhere to avoid.
