B&B Sa Pintadera

Our apartment was spacious, welcoming, and clean, and the B&B’s central spot still put us near the sea. We stayed for four nights in July 2020 and had a lovely time. Maria was a fantastic host, and breakfast was different and delicious each morning, with sweet and savory dishes made carefully from fresh products from her garden. Definitely worth trying. Thanks for everything, Maria!

We spent ten days at the B&B in August and were really struck by how kind and helpful Maria and her boyfriend were. Maria made homemade desserts for breakfast, but once she realized they weren’t quite our thing, she brought us wonderful fresh smoothies instead. They put real enthusiasm into making guests comfortable and paid attention to each person’s needs. They’re young, great hosts, and full of energy.

The apartment was simple, spacious, bright, and had all the comforts, with a quiet location that made a good base for the beaches and the main road toward Villasimius and Cagliari. We also appreciated the value for money. Breakfast was served right in the apartment and was both generous and delicious. Daily cleaning was another plus. Most of all, Maria and her husband were welcoming, humble, kind, and always ready to suggest things to do. Five well-earned stars. I’ll be back, thanks so much for everything.

We stayed two nights, and were glad it wasn’t longer. I’m adding these details to what I already wrote on Booking.com because I received a response that seemed somewhat inaccurate. The B&B occupies two floors and has an entrance shared by guests and the owner. There are two apartments on the first floor and one on the second, where we stayed. Ours was very large but sparsely furnished, which wasn’t itself a criticism. The bedroom and bathroom were off to the right. The bed was uncomfortable and creaked with even the slightest movement. When I mentioned it, the owner said she knew about the problem and had already made some investments, but replacing the bed, mattress and frame, would be a significant expense. Her Booking.com reply later seemed surprised by my constructive, non-destructive comment. The photos on Booking.com are mostly of beaches and don’t show much of the property or rooms. We also found worms in the toilet bowl as soon as we got the keys. Flushing several times didn’t help. The owner apologized, said it had never happened to her, and tried bleach, but the problem continued. Fortunately, there was a small guest bathroom we could use instead. The worms were still there throughout our two-day stay, so it didn’t seem like an unfamiliar issue. To avoid penalizing the host too much, we didn’t mention this to Booking.com or include it in our review at the time. I planned to publish it after her response. Breakfast was served in the apartment between 7:30 and 9:00. Each morning the owner sent a text or WhatsApp asking us to open the door, which I found absurd. The supplies were four Nutellas, three individual packs of toast, three single-serve jams, and three fruit juices. They weren’t replenished, so we had to be careful not to use everything on the first day. More seriously, homemade cookies and figs were served without any anti-COVID-19 precautions. Tea was made with bottled water from the fridge, which I thought was for drinking but wasn’t, and that water wasn’t replaced. The last issue we raised with the owner was the very strong sewage smell. We politely went around it, explaining that we’d smelled sewage in central Muravera the night before and that the apartment had the same stench. The owner knew about the problem and said the authorities weren’t dealing with it, which was why the smell was noticeable. She later denied this complaint in her review response, even though we’d discussed it privately. It’s disappointing to deal with people who act, or try to act, clever to cover up other problems. We paid €160, not including the tourist tax that was due at the property. After all these constructive, friendly reports, which the owner had accepted, we still had to pay the tax. She was mortified.
