We were told at check-in that there was a “private beach” for guests. When we couldn't find it, the owner said she meant the car park, which wasn't even beside the lake. I don't know what these sorts of claims are meant to achieve. The kitchen stove wasn't connected to gas, so cooking wasn't possible. We only hoped to make sandwiches for breakfast, but the elderly hostess supervising the house seemed annoyed whenever we came in. There were three big bins in the kitchen, yet we were instructed to take sardine tins to a bin in the hallway. Dishes had to be dried as soon as they were washed instead of left on the rack, and even the kettle had to be dried after use. We tried to keep quiet and leave things tidy. We were there just to sleep and try to eat breakfast in the shared kitchen and dining room, but still got repeated scoldings. Cleanliness and order seemed to matter more than guests' comfort, and we felt watched and controlled the whole time. After several days, I finally told the hostess to stop following us around and terrorising us. She angrily put a finger to her lips and hissed something in Italian. After that, she no longer said “good morning” to us.

The lake and town centre are right nearby, and there’s secure bike storage inside the building. The parking area is spacious and about four minutes away. We really enjoyed this very clean, tidy place, with its friendly, family feel. Happy to recommend it.

Barbara was kind and helpful throughout, finding repair shops for our equipment, suggesting places to eat, and checking that we were doing well. The apartment is lovely and sits right in the middle of town. Some nights were noisy, but we didn't mind. It’s directly above the town’s best ice cream shop and two of its best pizza places. Guests also get free use of the meadow by the lake, a great spot to spend the day, park the car, and leave surfboards and bikes. We had a brilliant time in Torbole and would absolutely stay here again. We visited Riva, Limone and Malcesine too, but Torbole was our favourite. Couldn't have been happier with the trip.

We've stayed here a number of times, and it has always been great. The hosts are friendly and do more than expected to make sure we’re comfortable and have what we need. Just fantastic, highly recommend.
