Caravaggio Apartment

The old town location was phenomenal, but this wasn’t a 4 star hotel. We’d booked three nights and had to leave after just 1.5 hours because of the state of the rooms. Both rooms smelled awful and had mold. We had full days of outings planned, but couldn’t face the conditions even just to sleep.

The staff were all lovely. They made me delicious cappuccinos in the morning and let me store my luggage before check-in. When I asked about the persistent urine smell in the bathroom, they poured something into the toilet, which helped somewhat, but seemed to cover it with another smell. Perhaps it’s just the pipes in Naples. The central location felt safe, though I’d hope they update the bathrooms before I consider returning. The room itself was huge, and the clean, comfortable bed and air conditioning, which I could control, were both good. But the corner window looked onto an alley or something, so there was almost no natural light, and the lighting was dim, including in the bathroom. It didn’t look as nice as in the 📸. The shower was tiny, hard to move in even for washing my hair, and its door didn’t close properly, so water got all over the floor. On my second morning I came down for breakfast with 20 minutes left, but there was almost nothing there. The previous morning there’d been meat and cheese, but this time just cereal and pastries.

The staff were lovely, and the coffee was absolutely delicious. The place was advertised as 4*, but that rating only fits the location. The hotel needs serious TLC. Our shower was held together with so much Mastic, I think they may have shares in the company! The Roof Garden was closed and looked like it had been shut for months. Shame we couldn’t have that coffee in our rooms. I’d say expect 2 or 3 * and you won’t be too disappointed.

Charming place, from the location and room to the price. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. I’d love to stay at this hotel again when I come to Napoli.
