The room matched the photos, the facilities were clean, and we had a private bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful, too. There’s no AC, though. We found plenty of good restaurants nearby, and the train station was close. One thing the hotel could address is the entrance lock. I’d have felt safer if it worked. The surroundings were the hard part. A street market set up outside during the day, and at night it looked more like a black market. The area was very dirty. We didn’t have trouble with homeless people outside, but usually tried to get back by sunset. One night, a group of homeless people were fighting right by the entrance, which was frightening. The hotel felt better placed than those beside the train station or farther down the side streets, where we saw more intimidating people and less lighting. The main street nearby is well lit, so you can get back quickly. Napoli itself was difficult to navigate on foot, with drivers going wildly and crossing the road feeling like a serious task because nobody seemed to follow the rules. This isn’t really the hotel or staff’s fault, and they were genuinely nice. I hope things improve across Napoli and that the hotel benefits from it.

I never felt safe during our stay, and the location-related comments I’d read were all true. I also believe the hostel is posting fake five-star reviews to boost its rating. Our private room shared a wall with another room, and the noise kept us awake nearly all night. There’s no air conditioning, so it gets hot and stuffy in summer. We also had an unpleasant encounter with a receptionist who didn’t speak English and was rude and impolite. I wouldn’t recommend coming here; it isn’t worth it.

We booked four nights but left after two because the hostel was nothing like we expected. The room was dirty and the bathroom disgusting, as if it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. The floor felt greasy, there was someone’s hair on it, and the duvet we were meant to sleep under was touching the filthy floor. It didn’t seem anyone had checked whether the room was ready. A basket in the shower was hung up with an old airport luggage tag. Our “deluxe” room was on the 10th floor, unbearably hot, and the fan did nothing. There was nothing deluxe about it, and it wasn’t worth 40 euro a night. The breakfasts were ridiculous, so we skipped them every day and went to nearby cafes instead. The area also made us uncomfortable. Police were usually around the building day and night, and men near the entrance tried to sell things, talked to us, and whistled, which left us feeling scared. When we decided to leave early and asked about getting some money back, we were told a cash payment might have been partly refunded, but because we paid by card there was no chance of any refund. We had to pay for the whole stay upfront, before seeing the room. They already had my credit card details through Booking, so I don’t understand why this was necessary. Nobody told us there would be no refund after paying by card. That wasn’t mentioned at the desk, in the confirmation email, or on the hostel’s Booking page. There were no terms and conditions visible near reception, and we weren’t asked to read or sign anything.

The lack of air conditioning made the room unbearable at night, so I wouldn’t recommend staying here in summer. It’s fine for one night, or two at most. The street is awful, though that isn’t the hotel’s fault, and everything inside was clean.

I arrived after 9 p.m. and found nobody at reception, so I had to book another hotel for the night. Before that, I’d tried to reach them by chat and phone, but got no reply or answer, and another number was invalid. I found the whole thing really unprofessional. I’d paid in advance, but they wouldn’t accept my cancellation request. A waste of time and money.
