Donna Mariella

The home was clean and comfortable, right in the historic center and near good food and transit. Donna Mariella and her son made us feel so welcome and went out of their way to help us find what we needed in Napoli. When we ran into a problem, they helped quickly. Donna Mariella is an incredibly kind and generous host. I highly recommend staying here.

Mariella and her manager Fabio were the highlight. She stocked the room with pastries, milk, bottled water, and essentials, and they were responsive whenever we needed help or had questions. Their warm welcome felt unlike any other, and they truly wanted us to be comfortable. Donna Mariella ended up being one of our favorite stays because of its authentic feel, and I'd recommend it to anyone after something different from a standard hotel. The location in the Piazzette felt intimidating at first, but we grew to appreciate the real Italian atmosphere. For two people, the apartment was a reasonable size, and the kitchen had everything we needed. There are built-in benches for sitting or setting down suitcases, but not both at once. Four people would probably feel cramped. Given the building's age, the bathroom plumbing was adequate, though finicky. Noise in the inner courtyard kept me awake on two of our three nights. I think someone has a workshop on the ground floor and worked until early morning. Closing the windows blocked most of it out.

The surprise desserts were legendary, and the room had everything we could need. Our hostess was so sweet, and the staff were consistently kind and helpful. The location was perfect 🤍

Mariella was a lovely host, and her assistant Fabio greeted us at the apartment with helpful restaurant and sightseeing tips. We had a great four-night stay. The location is excellent: famous pizzerias and little shops are nearby, Duomo metro is a short walk, and the main train station for Pompeii and other trips is 10 minutes away. Our airport taxi took 20 minutes. It's on the first floor, which is handy when many places are higher up with no lift. The apartment was clean, comfortable, and well kept. We got good use out of the kitchenette, with its microwave, stove, kettle, and oven. We'd highly recommend it.
