Hostel of the Sun

The bed and pillow were the one real letdown for me. The mattress was too soft and I could feel the springs, while the pillow was so thin I woke with a sore back. I’d gladly come back if they get new mattresses and pillows, because nearly everything else was great. The staff were welcoming and helpful from the minute I arrived, even lending me a power bank so I could go out instead of waiting for my phone to charge. The location is excellent, near the airport bus stop and the old city centre, with metro, funiculars and buses close by. Reception is on the 7th floor, and during certain hours shown in the picture the elevator takes a 10 cent coin. They keep a bowl of coins at reception for guests, and even provide free earplugs. There’s an arcade machine with lots of games, foosball, books in many languages, and a TV for movies when your feet need a break. The kitchen is very usable and the common areas are great. Highly recommend it.

The staff were lovely, always happy to chat and help, and there were plenty of toilets and showers. Breakfast is included, with games, musical instruments and a TV in the common area. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable enough, and it was one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in.

The beds were my main downside. Mine had a couple of springs poking through, so sleeping wasn’t very comfortable. On the plus side, the lockers were big enough for several bags, my dorm had its own bathroom, and there were extra showers and toilets by reception. I loved how all sorts of people mixed here, from backpackers and digital nomads to solo travellers, families with kids and groups. It isn’t fancy, but it feels warm, lively and genuine, with great energy and amazing staff. They were attentive, welcoming and always up for a chat. Breakfast is included, and they even clean everything up afterwards, which feels like a luxury when you’re backpacking. The decor is cute, with a cosy common area and an arcade corner. There’s also a small smoking balcony. The hostel is on the 7th floor and sometimes the elevator costs a coin, but staff will give you one if you ask. The airport shuttle’s last stop is just a 3 min walk away. I had a great stay and would recommend it for a friendly vibe in Napoli.

The location is perfect, close to everything, and the whole place feels relaxed and welcoming. Everything was clean and well cared for. The team were incredibly kind, friendly and always ready to help. Breakfast is simple but more than enough to get you started. Highly recommended for a stay in Naples.
