Hotel Luxor

After a long day of travel, we were left waiting outside the hotel entrance for about 30 minutes because of a power outage. We’d booked two rooms for one night. The rooms were average at best, with little comfort or in the way of amenities. The area felt isolated, the neighborhood didn’t seem particularly safe or welcoming, and we couldn’t find a nearby restaurant or anywhere to eat. The airport shuttle price also changed between staff shifts. The first front desk worker quoted $40 for four people. When another staff member came on, he raised it to $50 and refused to honor the original price, even after we explained what we’d been told. With an early flight and no other transport options, we had to accept the new fare. The stay was disappointing. I hope the hotel improves its service and communication with guests.

Here’s what we found: the sink water was yellow, and the bathtub was dirty with a piece of hair in it. The handheld shower didn’t give enough water, and the hot water ran out quickly. Breakfast was below the bare minimum, with limited choices and even the cappuccino was cold. To me, this hotel is a one or two star place, not three stars.

It’s close to the airport, which is a good location. But it’s an airport hotel they’re trying to bring up to a three-star standard. The vents in my room were dirty, though I didn’t even turn on the air conditioner, and the shower was filthy. I wouldn’t have stood in it barefoot.

The room was disgusting and the shower wouldn’t drain. The staff member was rude. I tripped and accidentally hit his door, and instead of asking if I was okay, he accused me of “breaking his door.” If you can, sleep on the street instead of here.
