Il Principe B&B

Mr. Karlo was fantastic, and so was his place. It’s right in the center, close to the train station and all the city’s monuments.

The room hadn’t been cleaned when I arrived, so I had to call the owner. We went two days without a shower towel, and both the room and bathroom bins needed emptying. He said the cleaner was sick, but the owner should have a backup plan for that. When we left the B&B at 10 sharp, in pouring rain, our luggage was in the hallway. Mr. Carlo had a rain poncho, but gave it to two men who’d just arrived in Naples instead of us, even though it was only worth a euro. That gesture said a lot about him. The moment I opened the building door, I wanted to leave. Obscene, to put it mildly. Marina.

The rooms are small, though really lovely once you get past the narrow entrance. They’re carefully kept, with modern, attractive en-suite showers, and have everything you need. It’s an easy walk from the station, and the owner is extremely helpful. There are guests from all over the world, too.

The outside might put you off, and it’s a walk-up on the second floor, but the rooms themselves are spacious, clean, quiet, and nice. They’re cleaned daily, and the staff are friendly and attentive. I’d stay at this B&B again if I come back to Naples.
