Hotel Lanfipe Palace

This is an awful place. In the evening, if the person at reception isn't there, you may be left outside waiting, with no idea when they'll let you in. It's in a commercial building, not a proper hotel, with 11 units on one floor of a dirty commercial building. You enter through a large wooden door and have to ring the receptionist, who sits on the tth floor, to open it. Then there's another metal security door, and they don't give you keys for it, so you have to ring again. If the receptionist is away from the desk or busy with other guests, you can be stuck outside for 30 minutes at a time. The front desk person was extremely rude. There's also a drug-selling place right next to the building, which felt very scary.

The room was still boiling hot when we got back, and the AC hadn't been fixed. Earlier, the woman at the desk had said it would cool down after 5-10 minutes, so we went out around the city hoping it would be sorted by the time we returned. Later, the receptionist said he'd fix it while we were away on a boat trip. When we came back, he hadn't even turned it on. He switched it on in front of us, but it only blew hot air. While we were checking out and waiting for our receipt, the receptionist made rude, offensive remarks about Americans, saying we "think we can get anything with money." That was insulting and completely unprofessional. We booked expecting a comfortable stay, but it was a nightmare. We regret staying here. Save yourself the headache.

The AC in our room was broken when we arrived, and that set the tone for a stay that was less than amazing. The hotel offered to move us the next day since it was full at the time, and said they'd refund the first night. That refund never came through. Maybe they forgot, wink wink. I'm just glad to be back in my own bed, away from this less than professional accommodation.

We really enjoyed our four nights here. Sandra gave us a warm welcome, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. It's right in the heart of Toledo road and the Spanish quarter, with bars and restaurants nearby and easy access to the local train station. Highly recommend.
