Le Stanze del Vicerè

We were glad we chose this over a chain hotel for a more authentic Napoli stay. It's traditional Italian/Napoli style, with large, clean rooms, high ceilings, and the usual tea and coffee and a fridge. Our hosts came quickly to check us in even though we arrived late. In the morning, the host's son served breakfast and was friendly and helpful with suggestions and advice. Sorry we never got your name. The metro and Archeologici Museum are a five-minute walk away.

Our room at Le Stanze was lovely and quiet, which felt unusual for Naples, and the location made it easy to get to the main sights and the train and metro. Just be prepared for the climb: the hotel sits at the top of a hill, with two full floors of stairs, four flights, and no lift. The stairwell is a bit worn despite its former grandeur. Inside, we had a nice room and a good bed. The bathroom was fine, though the shower area could use a little TLC. Service was friendly and helpful, and we were offered a drink when we arrived. Breakfast was more than adequate, with cereal, a lovely croissant, coffee, fruit, and toast rather than a full English. The breakfast room was amazing.

We spent a week here in August and found a real little gem. Mario and his wife were so welcoming and lovely to deal with. The room was spacious and well kept, and breakfast was simple but tasty, with fruit, toast, and pastries. The coffee was very good too. We could walk to the nearest metro and a small supermarket in under 10 minutes, and the restaurants and shops were about 15-20 minutes away. We'd happily come back.

After four nights at Le Stanze del Vicere', we're already thinking about coming back. It's an authentic Naples hotel right in the middle of everything, and our hosts were excellent and very helpful. We especially appreciated returning to a spotless room, a spacious bathroom, and a great shower after long days exploring on foot. Thanks again, and all the best from David and Jacqui.
