Mecla Suites

The outside can look a bit neglected from the road, as with many Italian city apartments, but the rooms themselves are clean, comfortable, and modern. Our named room at Mecla Suites had marble floors, a modern bathroom, a king-size bed, Wi-Fi, and a TV with Netflix. There are cafés and restaurants a short walk away, including one across the road, and a laundromat next door. Via Toledo’s shops and the Galleria are about five minutes away on foot. Mary’s Sfogliatella is worth a stop for baba and the best sfogliatella. Breakfast is brought to the room, though I’d choose a local café down the road instead.

The people here were so welcoming, and it seemed like a small family-run place. The rooms are modern and freshly renovated, and the stay was better than I expected. I absolutely loved this mini-hotel in Napoli and would come back whenever I’m in town.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Finding the place was really difficult, though, and the front desk was rarely staffed. There was little to no English spoken, and luggage isn’t locked away; they rely on video cameras for security. I had booked two top-of-the-line rooms, but at check-in I was told they weren’t available for our whole stay, so we had to switch rooms partway through. Communication was awful, and they didn’t arrange the move with us in advance. While we were out in the city, staff moved all our belongings themselves. Who wants strangers handling all their stuff? Orbitz still hasn’t been able to reach them to arrange a refund for the price difference, on top of the disruption to our vacation.

The breakfast was amazing, and everyone on staff was kind and helpful. Rooms were spacious and very clean, and the location near P.zza del Plebiscito was perfect. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay in Naples!
