NAP Hostel Spaccanapoli

The hostel’s an easy walk into the city, though the route up to it is steep. The rooms are really spacious and the locker setup is interesting. The beds feel a bit exposed, especially the lower bunks, since they can’t be curtained off. Breakfast was great! The one catch is it starts at 8, so there’s none if you need to leave earlier.

I wouldn’t come back. This was one of the least secure and hygienic places I’ve stayed, and it fell well short for both. For several days the main gate to the house was left wide open because the keypad lock was broken. Then one morning, the glass panel in the entrance door on my floor suddenly fell out, leaving the property accessible to anyone. There were bed bugs in my bed, and I had multiple bites. I also ended up with head lice. I won’t share the photos, but the hygiene was truly unacceptable. The dorm beds have no curtains, so there’s no privacy, particularly in a mixed dorm. With the bathroom outside the room, even changing clothes was very uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend staying unless major improvements are made.

The location is unbeatable, but it can feel a little worrying in the evening. Not dangerous, just chaotic. Coming from the station, be ready for a steep hill with your bags. I struggled a bit, but the lovely reception staff carried my bags up the rest of the stairs. It’s a small, clean hostel, and I liked having bathrooms both inside and outside the room. Breakfast is included, which is nice, though it’s very basic.

A perfect base for seeing amazing Naples, with lovely rooms and a garden. The hostel has a great vibe, and people of all ages come from all over the world!
