We were in a quiet spot at night and could really relax. The room was nice, especially the balcony, where we had a lovely sunrise view of Mount Vesuvius. The location worked perfectly for us, between the main station and city centre, and only a few minutes from the train station. I couldn't find a better place for the price, and it's well placed for exploring the historic centre. There were no signs at the address to show where the accommodation was. We had to go into the courtyard and ask the man at the security desk to contact the owner. It only took a few minutes, and he brought us up to the 7th floor. Antonio and the downstairs reception staff were all kind and helpful. The woman responsible for the property wasn't very friendly. We never met her in person, and had to send our passport details via WhatsApp. She also asked us to pay the city tax, €4.50 per person per night, in a rather unfriendly way.

The rooms were basic but clean, and we stayed for two nights. Keep some 10 cent coins handy, as the elevator takes them. The historic centre is easy to explore from here, and the train station is only a few minutes away. There were no signs to point out the accommodation when we got to the address. We went through the courtyard and asked the man at the security desk to find the owner. It took just a few minutes, then he brought us up to the 7th floor to check in. A great stay overall.

The room was dirty, poorly maintained, and missing basic necessities. Cold air kept coming through the old wooden shutters, there was constant noise, and the air conditioning didn't work properly or heat the room. We spent two days freezing, with just one roll of toilet paper. The whole place felt unsafe too. Every night, strange people sat inside the building by the entrance watching TV. I never knew whether they lived there or were tourists. I regret the money I spent, and chose this place only for its central location. I regret that choice and wouldn't make it again. The trouble began a week before we arrived. The owner hadn't sent any directions or entry details, so I messaged her myself and asked about storing our luggage. Nobody replied for two days. When she did answer, in Italian, she said there was no luggage storage and that check-in instructions would follow in the next few days. We were due around 14:00-15:00, but she only sent them at 13:30 on arrival day. If she didn't want to share the lockbox code early, she could have sent the other details sooner and the code later, so we could plan. Everything was in Italian. She also sent a random message in Greek with basic instructions that made no sense, clearly from Google Translate. I told her I was annoyed, but doubt she understood. I don't know how people can work in tourism without speaking even basic English. Finding the entrance was a struggle. The accommodation was in a huge complex with several buildings, rubbish everywhere, abandoned scooters, and strange people. A random man came up, said “neapolis center?”, and gestured for us to follow him without introducing himself. We found out that using the elevator to the 7th floor cost 10 cents each time, something the owner had never properly mentioned or seemed to care about telling us in advance. At the room, the lockbox wouldn't open. The same man grabbed at my phone, trying to open it and calling the owner, while both of them shouted on the phone. Then the owner called me, shouted in Italian, hung up, called again, and kept shouting. In the middle of the chaos I somehow got the box open and took the keys. We went inside with the man still behind us. Other people came out of nearby rooms because of the noise, and I still don't know if they were residents or tourists. Before leaving, the man asked for €18 tourist tax while still on the phone with the owner, who kept shouting. The owner called me again after he left and shouted some more. I hung up. Later she accused me by message, saying she'd sent instructions in Greek. I replied with a screenshot showing that everything had been in Italian. The next morning, at 8:00, the owner called again, an hour when I could have been asleep. I answered, but she said nothing. I messaged asking if she'd called, and she never replied. Later, we came back to find someone had entered the room and left another roll of toilet paper. I believe that's illegal for a short-term rental. It's not a hotel, and nobody should enter without permission. We never gave consent.

The 7th-floor accommodation was spotless, and getting the keys was easy. Antonio gave us useful tips, and I loved the balcony overlooking the inner courtyard. It was great to see real Neapolitan balcony life. The elevator is easy to use, but costs a 10-cent coin per ride. 10+.

Fine for the price. The shower was pretty gross, but the beds and the rest of the bathroom were okay. The staff were nice. The elevator costs 10 cents.
