Hotel San Francesco Al Monte

The views and the history of the place are unique, but there were too many problems. We paid 450€ for a junior suite and were downgraded to a double room that cost 250€. It had no outdoor light and was dark. They said the difference would be exchanged for pool access, but we never got the extra money refunded. The room wasn’t clean, and some things were broken, including the air conditioning and shower. We asked repeatedly for repairs and other changes but didn’t get help. Management seems to spend a lot of time writing detailed replies to bad reviews. They should own the faults and put more effort into improving the service. That’s meant as constructive feedback.

For our honeymoon in Naples, this hotel was just right. The views over the city were fantastic, and we liked the pool and bar area. It was also close to bars and restaurants. Staff were really friendly and helpful, bringing us drinks and snacks by the pool and telling us about local attractions. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner there, but breakfast was excellent and good quality for the price. Our room was clean and spacious, with lots of character and decor that suited the historic building. We’d definitely recommend it for the views and a relaxing stay.

Service and cleanliness were poor to very poor for what we paid. My bath towels weren’t changed. Housekeeping folded my used hair towel and hung it back up while it was still wet. When I called reception, someone came to the room and said they had no towels and would bring one tomorrow. A used towel should be replaced with a clean one. I shaved two days ago, but the bathroom floor still hadn’t been cleaned and the hair was there. Breakfast was another disappointment, one of the smallest and most limited buffets I’ve seen in all my travels. When I asked for fried eggs, they said it would cost an extra €6. At this price, that’s unacceptable. I’ve traveled widely and stayed in many hotels booked through Booking.com, but this was one of my worst experiences for service and cleanliness.

We were there for two nights, and the view from our window was the only good part. The room was very small, and there was hardly anything to eat. I’m vegetarian, so there were almost no options for me. I asked for vegetable soup, but they brought vegetables with sauce and said that was it, even though the menu listed soup. The staff also had a lot of trouble bringing us water.
