Sant'Alfonso Bed and Breakfast

We felt very safe here, thanks to the secure entrance door and the privacy upstairs. The location is right in the heart of Naples, within walking distance of food, cafes, and shopping. Mario was a great host, quick to answer our questions and helpful with ideas for places to visit. The room was fantastic, much better than you'd expect from the outside. It was clean, fresh, newly renovated, and well equipped with a sofa, toiletries, and a powerful hairdryer, which I loved. If we return to Naples, we'll definitely stay here again.

The rooms were very clean and spacious, and we'd highly recommend this place if you're after a local experience. The building is historic and can look rundown at first, but inside it's clean, rustic, and authentic. The manager was friendly and helpful. He carried our luggage up to our room, since there are no elevators, and explained things we could do in Naples. Wi-Fi was a bit shaky at times, but we were out exploring most of the time, so it wasn't much of an issue.

We only stayed one night, but this was our favourite place in Sicily. The guest house is at the top of town, not far from parking, and the breakfast room has amazing views. You can make tea or coffee there any time of day. The residence was well organised and our host paid great attention to detail. During our January trip, it was my first time experiencing underfloor heating in the bathroom.

This was the worst holiday experience we've ever had. We booked what was listed as Sant Alfonso Rooms from 20. July 2024 to 24. July 2024, expecting a normal hotel as described on Booking.com. We couldn't find it when we arrived, so we asked locals, who knew the address but had no idea there was a hotel there. At that address we found an apartment called Love and Rose, listed on Airbnb and Booking.com, not a hotel. The owner was outside and wanted us to go into the property separately, my wife first and then me. It looked suspicious, dark, and dangerous to us, so we asked why there was no hotel sign on the building. He said it was protected by UNESCO and signs weren't allowed. The day before, on 19. July 2024, someone claiming to work there had messaged us on WhatsApp to ask when we'd arrive and whether we were travelling by train or plane. He sent a card for Sant Alfonso Bed & Breakfast at the same address. But we'd booked Sant Alfonso Rooms, and neither that name nor Alfonso Bed & Breakfast seemed to exist there. We believe this is a big scam. There are advertisements for that address under different names and with different pictures on many sites. We found other disappointed customers after looking into it. This person has listings under different names on TripAdvisor, Airbnb, Booking.com, and other websites. We now understand why he said he was waiting for us: it was impossible to find the hotel because it didn't appear to exist. The real name is Love and Rose apartement. We sent Booking.com pictures and a video to support our account. We also wrote this on Booking.com. We want to warn others based on our experience. Don't book there!
