I’d avoid this place if you value your time, money and peace of mind. My online booking was confirmed and paid for, but when I arrived, the owner said the property should be 'no longer listed' and that booking it should have been impossible. He took no responsibility, gave me no room and told me to sort it out with the booking platform. I accepted that issues can happen and found somewhere else. But when I later asked the platform for a refund, they said, after many exchanges, they couldn’t refund me because the owner wouldn’t answer their calls or process it. Other reviews describe similar problems. To me, the pattern suggests the owner may be exploiting the system financially while leaving guests stranded and without recourse. I understand booking platforms can be difficult for small business owners, but this approach harms customers and trust in hospitality. If it’s meant to push back against 'big tech', it targets consumers instead of the companies. I hope the platforms fix the loophole quickly, though that could leave hotel owners with even less control over bookings. In the end, this approach seems counterproductive and harmful to hotel owners too. In reply to your response below: no, this problem is not only yours, it affects everyone who books online with you. If you despise online booking sites, it would be more useful to explain once guests arrive why you consider these 'fictitious companies' harmful to hotel managers and best avoided. Doing things this way will only leave you with unhappy guests, negative reviews and tighter rules from booking sites for all managers, intended to prevent similar scams. It helps nobody and certainly won’t encourage people to support hotel managers like you.

Please be careful and don’t book this place. My wife and I paid for a reservation by credit card, as we have for many other hotels. We arrived at 9:30 pm and buzzed for 15 minutes, but no one answered. When we called the host, he said he only accepts bookings from booking.com. He had taken our money and accepted the reservation, but told us he was out of town, nobody was there, and nobody could help. We said we’d confirmed the booking with him personally on WhatsApp a few weeks earlier, but he denied it. So there we were, outside in the January cold at night, forced to find another hotel at 10 pm. It was cheap, but we ended up on the street looking elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and find another B&B. In response to the owner’s claim that we booked through a fictitious website, that isn’t true. We paid you, and then messaged several times on WhatsApp. You confirmed our reservation and agreed when we asked about storing bags. You kept confirming it there until the night we were outside your B&B. Please treat paying guests better in the future.

The bed was good, but the place was dirty, noisy and smelly. I don’t understand how it got a 91 percent rating.

We thought the old town location was very good, with public transport well connected. On arrival, a friendly man let us leave our luggage in the apartment. The room was small, though, and large suitcases would have been a problem. It was basic and reasonably clean, with old-fashioned furniture, which we expected for the very low price. We didn’t need much more. I would have liked a waterproof cover on the mattress so the sheets weren’t directly against it.
