Terminal 1 Guest House

For our 6 am flight from Naples, this was just right. The room, Gate B, was perfect too. We returned the rental car a few blocks away the night before, picked up a delicious pizza from a place one block down, then walked to the airport in five minutes. No taxi hassle, and the convenience is hard to beat. If you’re flying early, it’s a perfect place to stay.

The airport was very close, check-in was easy, and I liked the room’s theme. But the shower was barely more than a trickle at a reasonable temperature. Breakfast was shockingly bad. The milk was curdled, the fruit was rotting, and there was very little else. No bread or toast, nothing fresh. I pointed out the old fruit, and they removed it without replacing it or offering anything else. Luckily there’s an excellent cafe across the road, because we couldn’t eat the breakfast.

The room was modern, very clean and comfy, with an easy check-in and an early breakfast that worked great for our morning flight. The selection was basic but delicious. There was one problem, though: a very strong, strange smell in the room, almost like paint or leftover glue.

The rooms were far bigger, more open and cleaner than I expected, and the beds were really comfortable. I’d assumed this was a regular hotel when I booked, but it’s a bed and breakfast, and turned out to be a great find. The airport entrance is only a six-minute walk away, ideal for a night before flying. There’s a room on the same floor with a decent little breakfast selection: yogurts, wrapped foods, milk, cereal and a few other things, though nothing freshly made. Check-in and checkout are self-service, which was handy when we arrived late. Being so close to the airport had made me think the rooms might just be cheap and basic, but that wasn’t the case.
