Even after the bad experience during the first five days of our stay at “Residenza La Cenata,” run by the same manager, the basics continued to be neglected here. Days passed without anyone cleaning the room, though in a B&B this should happen DAILY. No one emptied the only wastepaper bin, which was missing from the bathroom, changed the towels or sheets, made the bed, or cleaned at all. After three days, we had to call ourselves to ask for toilet paper and a general cleanup. The next morning at 9:00, visibly irritated and uninterested cleaning staff came by. We politely asked them to return later, so we could get ready and go out. They agreed in an annoyed tone, BUT NEVER CAME BACK. When we returned at 6:19 PM, the room was still completely unmade, as usual. We told the manager, who said the “great ladies” had reported that we refused service and said there was “no need” to remake the room. That was literally ABSURD. And despite this, they would most likely keep working for him. The “property” is just outside the center of the tiny village of Nardò, and even from there it takes at least 15 minutes by car to reach the sea. Another problem was being woken at 8:30 in the morning, sometimes earlier, by disruptive noise from workers on the ground floor, where another business belonging to the same manager operates. He knew guests were upstairs on HOLIDAY and needed at least some RELAXATION, but did not postpone the work until at least 10:00. The normal legal hours for starting work should not apply to a vacation rental manager. Finally, in her usual, ONLY APPARENTLY polite way of “doing” things, or NOT doing them, the manager said she had paid for two breakfasts at the bar downstairs for the last two mornings, as an “apology.” “Take what you like, they’ve been notified, they’ll put it on my bill,” she told us. But the woman behind the counter was immeasurably unpleasant and acidic. When she heard the B&B manager was covering our order, she said curtly and restrictively, “You have a coffee and a croissant, you pay for anything else.” We only ate it to avoid any further potential friction between her and the B&B. The B&B should stop using her. Luckily, her husband was probably “a little” more cordial the next day, but people like that don’t deserve to stay open for even one day if they show themselves to the public they chose to “serve” like that. With those two coffees and a croissant, plus a lot of fake formal niceties, let’s leave this other place to what is admittedly very limited progress, given the scale of the measures compared with the flaws. “Dear” LEONARDO GALLO, evidently you don’t know how to do your job or want to, and you don’t even know how to check a user profile. As the screenshot just added shows, I’ve made 202 contributions to date, NOT 950, of which only 30 are reviews. Two are VERY BAD, and WELL-DESERVED BY YOU. Instead of INVENTING FICTION and meddling in the irrelevant details of other people’s reviews, think about doing your job. UNLUCKY, and I’d say not only that, it will be YOU. I HAVE LIMITED MYSELF TO REVIEWING THE STAY, WITHOUT USING DIRECT ADJECTIVES ABOUT YOU. THEREFORE, I WARN YOU NOT TO USE ANY FURTHER ADJECTIVES OF ANY KIND TOWARD ME, OR I WILL BE FORCED TO TAKE SERIOUS MEASURES.

The rooms are basic but clean, and make a good base for getting to lots of well-known places in just 15 minutes. You won’t be fleeced.

Right in central Nardò, this bed and breakfast is convenient for touring Salento and offers excellent value for money.
