The building is gorgeous, historic, and right in the center of Nardò, with stylish, simple furnishings. But the stay felt like it lost its local character under the non-Italian management. Our air conditioning quit after a few hours. We tried calling for help, but it was 1 a.m., so we understood there might be no answer then. What bothered us was getting no reply the next morning either. At checkout, they said they had received our message and would look into it. On a muggy August night, at a high-season price of €135 without breakfast, a little more care would have helped. Even offering two bottles of water from the fridge as a small apology would have been appreciated.

The English owners were so kind. Their beautiful old building has been renovated with care for its original architecture, and it now feels like a lovely, welcoming home. Highly recommended.

Right by the center, and there’s a terrace where you can have a drink or sunbathe, plus a shower. Breakfast was good too. Our room was really lovely and clean, with a huge bathroom!
