Affittacamere Conte di Cavour

The people we met around Noto, from shopkeepers and restaurateurs to people passing by, were lovely and made our week in the town much easier. The stay itself was a truly negative experience. Our room wasn't clean enough, even after we told the owner we were unhappy. The toilet paper holder, towel holder, and shower curtain rod came loose in our hands. The shower was dirty well beyond what you'd expect after a day, and the owner blamed it on the very hard water. The toilet brush was disgusting and unusable. An elbow-style mixer lever took up nearly half the shower stall, so washing comfortably was difficult. There were pigeon droppings all over the balcony, and the sheet was laid directly on the mattress with no mattress cover, which also made us question the cleanliness. Parking underneath the B&B is free when there's a spot, but it didn't feel secure. Our license plate was stolen overnight, and we found its screws on the ground the next morning. I attached photos, though they don't show how uncomfortable the stay felt.

The room was spacious and nice, and the B&B is centrally located. I stayed four nights and things seemed great until a dress went missing from my suitcase on the second-to-last day. I'd been about to wear it the day before, then chose something else, so I was quite sure it was still there. The owner and cleaning lady both said they knew nothing about it. If you stay here, lock your suitcase, because apparently a ghost takes clothes.

Parking is the one downside. Otherwise, the B&B is clean and well run, with lovely rooms and a good breakfast. The location is strategic, right behind the basilica.

It's central, comfortable, and affordable. The coffee machine is the one small flaw, the drinks it makes are a bit disappointing, though that's almost nitpicking.
