Agriturismo La Torre Dei Canonici

Set among rice fields, this is a really nice agriturismo. Be sure to buy some of their excellent rice!

We made a last-minute booking at Torre dei Canonici while traveling through the Piedmont countryside, and Claudia welcomed us with a smile and was very helpful. The room was beautiful, with fine furniture and a renovation done using top-quality materials. It was lovely to look at and even smelled fresh, with soap-scented linens. The cleanliness was impeccable. We also used the spa nearby. Everything worked perfectly and was spotless, with a relaxation area and hot drinks. We tried the whirlpool, Turkish bath, sauna, and shower, and enjoyed the lighting and background music. The grounds are beautifully kept and include several buildings, a 15th-century tower, indoor and outdoor places to relax, and even a stable with horses and cows. Breakfast was a generous continental spread, served kindly. The lady offered to make something savory, though we didn’t need it. There were also very good jams made on site, and plenty to start the day well. We found the whole stay relaxing and the price more than reasonable. I honestly don’t understand the very negative reviews. Maybe some visitors aren’t used to places where mass tourism makes everything expensive and service poor, or they expect luxury for the price of a one-star hotel in Italy. Some people may have paid a little more than they would in Italy or Europe generally and then looked for something to complain about. As for us, thank you so much for everything! Just outside the city, the property sits in a beautiful country setting. The rooms are luxurious, tastefully furnished, and well kept. The wellness center and gym are small, but very well maintained and fully equipped. We were welcomed warmly, and breakfast was plentiful and varied. The courtesy and professionalism stood out throughout.

We stayed here for the November 1, 2018 long weekend. The place was clean and very nice, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was perfect. The hot tub was the one letdown: it wasn’t working, and the water was freezing because it wasn’t heated. When I mentioned it at checkout, they said they hadn’t realized and would call a technician. I’ve since read reviews showing other guests had the same problem before me. I was really sorry about it and had hoped they’d do something to help us out. Such a shame, because the place deserves better.
