We tried a different dish each, a table of four, so we could sample as much of the menu as possible. The pasta and meat courses offer a big selection of local dishes, and the portions are generous. For starters, there are cured hams, salame, cheese, and pickled and preserved vegetables made with produce from the property. You can order specific items or a mixed platter with a bit of everything. The desserts were all delicious, too, and the price for the food is very good. The tables are outdoors on different levels along the hillside, where the local fox might pop by. Lorenzo and his amazing staff make you feel at home with familiar food and a welcoming atmosphere. It’s exactly what you hope to find when driving up to Agriturismo Buratta: nature, good food, and friendly people. I’ll definitely come back with more friends.

I was horrified to see the breakfast buffet served with disposable materials. For me, that’s already a reason not to return. I can’t give this agriturismo more than two stars when it uses plastic or disposable items for all food and drinks instead of focusing on sustainable materials and practices. I’d expect that in the lowest class canteen, not somewhere nestled in nature and living from it. I also expected more homemade food and vegetable choices. There was nothing like that at breakfast, especially compared with other places we stayed in Maremma that weren’t agriturismo properties but served a great selection of freshly made food, including several vegetarian options. They didn’t even serve eggs. The only savory choices were cold cuts and cheese. The bathroom needs deep cleaning and repairs, too. And please replace the single-use plastic portions with large soap dispensers.

The biggest problem for me was the waste: the place called itself bio-something, but served everything on paper plates and water in plastic cups. At least the forks and knives were normal. They had a couple of bins for the rubbish served with the food, but dirty paper belongs in mixed waste, not paper. That was the worst part of the visit. As for the meal, it was okay, but there were no fireworks. Google found it as the best restaurant in the whole Talamone area, and as a non-Italian I can’t agree. My vegetarian gnocchi with cheese and mushrooms was just okay, and my boyfriend’s ribs were unlike typical ribs and came in a small portion. The place seemed mostly for Italians and was busy, with a full parking lot.

We’d visited Rome, Florence, Milano, and Venice, and stopped here for just one night. It was still the best decision of our trip. The food and views were the best we had, and the rooms were perfect. I’m so glad I found it on Google Maps. Thanks so much for the hospitality. The cheese is to die for!

I’ve had dinner here three times now, and it’s been perfect every time. I started with a mixed platter of cured meats, cheeses, and vegetables. The cold cuts are always top notch, and the cheeses are something else. Then I went for the Pici alla Buttera again, thick, large spaghetti-like pasta, cooked al dente with a sausage and olive ragù. The full-flavored sauce coats your mouth, and it’s out of this world. For the main, I had suckling pig, moist and juicy with perfect crackling, plus roast diced potatoes done just right. Most of what you eat is produced by them or sourced locally in the Maremma area, so it can’t get much more local. Deserves 6 stars. Tourists are in for a treat!
