Camping Village Voltoncino

We really enjoyed camping here with our tent and would come back. The best part was the direct beach access just a few metres away. It wasn't crowded, the water was clear, and the sand was smooth. The showers and toilets were very clean, though they lacked toilet paper and soap; there was antibacterial gel. The staff were friendly and helpful, and let us charge our phones and power banks safely at reception for free. The Wi-Fi was also very good and free. A cheap, comfortable camping option in Toscana!

We'd called several times that week to arrange five nights, but nobody would let us book, even when we called the night before. This is our only holiday this year. After driving two hours with all our belongings, we arrived and they didn't seem to search for a pitch, just said “nothing.” They offered no alternative despite us explaining we'd be coming. Now we're stranded with no hope of enjoying our holiday. The staff were incompetent, rude, and unhelpful. What a horrible way to run a business.

The owners aren't very accommodating when you ask for a change. Their reaction makes it feel as if you're being ridiculous for not liking what you've been given. I've been to three bungalows, and each kitchen had the same frying pan, which really needs replacing. The kitchen is otherwise well equipped, though I couldn't find a cooking knife and the pan had clearly seen better days. This was my second year here, and the entertainment seems to have changed a bit. The beach is almost nonexistent and very crowded. This year I was given a room with disabled access and a very basic wet-room bathroom. The neighbours are so close that when you're eating lunch or dinner outside, you can smell their shampoo or whatever else.

One of my favourite places on Earth. It's family friendly and has all the amenities.
