Classic Hotel am Stetteneck

We came in early spring, so the lack of AC wasn't a problem. Leaving the balcony door open kept the room comfortable, and jet lag made the hard beds easier to deal with. The beds are firm and the pillows only a little better than bad, though. Our room had a fantastic balcony, but the rooms without one are nice too. Breakfast was great, and the rings include local bus and tram access. The hotel is in a super part of town for shopping, eating and having fun, close to the lifts. Showers were good, and the spa was quite good, if small. It might be hot and stuffy in warmer weather, but for spring, when AC isn't needed, it was excellent.

The hike Andrea suggested, Pieralonga, was absolutely superb and made our first day. The staff were all really nice and incredibly helpful. Excellent experience, thank you.

The room looked very nice, but my stay was a disappointment. Our windows faced the pedestrian street, and with no air conditioning the room got sweltering. We couldn't leave the windows open because cafes and bars were noisy until 1:00 in the morning, then supply trucks started passing at 6:00 a.m. The junior suite is listed as large enough for three, but the third guest has to be under 12. Its second “bedroom” is about the size of a walk-in closet, with a couch. They just took away its cushions and put a small mattress on top. It wasn't wide or long enough for an adult. When I brought this up with the front desk and hotel manager, they said that's simply how the room is. The front desk staff seemed indifferent and unwelcoming. They wouldn't help bring our luggage up the stairs, and we had to ask several questions to find out where parking was and how to reach it.

We’re in the middle of our stay and leave tomorrow. With the windows open there’s a lovely breeze, but sleeping has been terrible. The hotel sits across from several bars with loud music, still going at 11:15 pm with no sign of slowing down, and trash collection starts outside those same windows at 5:00 am. It’s summer and a bit warm, and there’s no AC, but that part is fine. The noise is the problem. There doesn’t seem to be much the hotel can do.
