Grones

The dining room has floor-to-ceiling windows looking over the green valley, and the half board dinner is absolutely fantastic. The family and staff make you feel so welcome. We also loved the pool and sauna for relaxing, plus the sitting areas inside and out where you can enjoy the gorgeous views. Hotel Grones is one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. I can’t say enough good things about it and highly recommend it.

We met couples who return to Hotel Grones again and again, and after our stay we completely understand why. It was excellent in every way. The location is quiet and slightly above central Ortisei, with great views, but only a few minutes’ walk from the center along the lovely Passeggiata Luis Trenker. The property is immaculately clean and well kept, with bright rooms, light wood floors and furnishings, and excellent common spaces, including reception, bar, dining room, gardens, pool, jacuzzi, spa, and parking. Everyone, from the owners and front desk to the bartender, wait staff, and housekeeping, was kind and helpful. Breakfast was fresh, varied, and well stocked. Dinner offered delicious local dishes over several courses, with themed evenings featuring Ladin food, an accordion player, or a harpist. We did plenty of research for our Dolomites trip and are very glad we chose it.

The owners welcomed us so warmly that we felt like family right away. We visited Hotel Grones during our Chinese national holiday trip in Italy, and it was easily the most satisfying hotel of the whole journey. The staff were exceptionally attentive and genuinely cared about everyone's comfort and needs. They offered personal recommendations and thoughtful little touches that made the place feel like home away from home.

We parked in the underground garage on arrival, then walked everywhere. The town is close and easy to reach, and the escalators are brilliant. My husband and I loved the location, and we loved Ortisei too. The hotel and grounds are spotless, just as the pictures show, with a lovely bar and lobby for relaxing. Breakfast was wonderful, and the staff really went above and beyond. We can’t wait to come back for skiing!
