Breakfast was served in a small, damp, gloomy room downstairs. There were packaged snacks and a few good sweets made by the woman. The cappuccino and tea cups were tiny. The house itself is old and only partly renovated, with several floors. Our room was bare. The bathroom had no window, and the sink was awkward to use because a cabinet stuck out right above it, leaving almost no room to wash your face. There was no coat hook, and the bath mat was completely unsuitable. When we stepped on it with wet feet, dirt from it stuck to our soles. We had no chair, the mattress was extremely uncomfortable, and the room wasn't tidied or cleaned the next day. For €70 a night, I felt the price was far too high for such an isolated setting and the service provided. We were offered a choice between a room with a small balcony or one with a TV, which seemed odd in itself. When I told the owner the price didn't match what was on offer, he said he would have charged €55, but his partner wouldn't budge. Then "Mr." Fausto, in a friendly, easygoing way, INVITED us to dinner to try their own meat. We accepted. At dinner, Fausto's table was covered with chicken, sausages, ribs with peperonata, and bruschetta with cherry tomatoes. His partner ate upstairs with her son, though he came by now and then. I ate very little because the meat was undercooked. Fausto ate and drank the most, and kept talking nonstop, with a lot of imagination, to put it mildly. Just before we left the next morning, Fausto made another "grand outing" and said he wanted us to pay for dinner. His partner didn't want payment, but he demanded it in an imperious, rude tone, so we paid. That friendly dinner invitation turned into a very different impression of him, a sly fellow, and I'll say no more. The stay was unpleasant in many ways.

The place itself has potential, and Fausto was the reason I didn't give it one star. He's kind, affable, polite, and experienced, and shared the story of a worker with deep values. He also booked us a restaurant where we ate well. The room was old, while the buildings were new. Everything was clean, including the windowless bathroom, and the towels were nice. The mattress was uncomfortable, though, and the bathroom was poorly designed: the sink sits under a cabinet and is very awkward to use. The shower was impossible unless we used cold water. When we turned it to hot, no water came out. Things got off to a bad start over the one thing I had specifically asked about: a television. I called and was told the room had one, so we booked and arrived two days later. The lake was closed, and we only found that out when we got there. The TV didn't work either. They said lightning had damaged it, although the forecast hadn't called for storms of that size all week. I was angry and felt mocked. At first I'd even felt guilty because she had asked us to arrive at 3 PM, and we came at 2:40 PM, whereupon she welcomed us kindly. Then she started shouting that I was rude 😂 because she had let us in early and told us the lake was closed 🤨🤔🤨. Breakfast was ready very early. It was a large tray with three kinds of packaged croissants and a cake she had made, plus as much cappuccino or coffee as we wanted. But there was no yogurt, juice, fruit, jam, biscuit 🍪🍩, or anything else. To be fair, I did try the TV that was supposedly damaged by lightning 🤨😔. It turned on and showed video; only the antenna connection was missing 🤔🤔🤔🤔. In my experience, lightning damages a TV differently. Despite the inconvenience, we were charged the full price. If you want to do this job, you need to learn it rather than improvise. The place has a lot going for it, as does Fausto, but the rest needs work. Thanks anyway for Fausto's excellent hospitality!

I liked the room. The location is awkward for getting to restaurants without a car, since there are no lights outside the village and it feels quite dangerous even on a bike. I couldn't have dinner, but Sory found a way for me to eat something and let me have breakfast very early the next morning. I really appreciated that. Special thanks to Sory for being so helpful and kind.

Corbara 09.08.2023 There was parking under the house and nearby. The room had a double bed with fragrant sheets, pillows, bedside tables, a wardrobe, a bedside lamp and air conditioning. In the bathroom there were scented towels, a hairdryer, hair shampoo, shower gel, hand cream and more. It's a nice place, with all the usual room comforts.

It was a pleasure staying here, and we'll definitely come back. The rooms were very clean, breakfast was good, and parking was right in front of the property. The place is huge, quiet, and surrounded by nature.
