Hotel Gialletti

The sunset view was beautiful, and the staff were really nice. But the beds felt like cardboard, the Wi-Fi didn’t work, and we could hear EVERYTHING through the thin walls.

I’d love to stay here again, even though it’s a long trip from Texas. It’s a lovely family-run hotel, conveniently close to the highway. Breakfast had a great cold spread, with croissants, rolls, cakes, yoghurt, salami, and fresh fruit. Dinner hours are limited, but they worked out fine.

It’s handy for the route, and there’s a supermarket about 200 metres away where you can pick up water and snacks. I might come back now that I know what to expect, but don’t count on much of a view from the window. Breakfast was good quality, though there wasn’t much choice in breads or cakes. I missed having scrambled eggs, bacon, or sausage like I’ve found at other hotels in Italy. My first room wasn’t clean, and in the second I couldn’t get the air conditioning set properly. The heat seemed to bring ants from the bathroom into the bedroom.

The local food at the restaurant is outstanding, a real taste of Umbrian cuisine. Breakfast is extensive, from continental to Italian options, and you can just ask. Rooms are comfortable, with working Wi-Fi and air conditioning, and the price is good. There are charging options nearby: the hotel has a Type 2 station, and there’s also a BeCharge Plenitude 22 kw type charger at the adjacent Esso station. You’re only a few hundred metres from the E35/E45, so you can recharge or refuel as needed. Stay the night, then visit Orvieto’s medieval downtown and underground catacombs.
