Hotel Citta Bianca, Ostuni Resort

The one bright spot was breakfast, with a good range to choose from, and the location is handy for Ostuni. The rest of the stay was really disappointing, my least favorite in Italy so far. The room looked tired and dirty, with someone else's hair on the bathroom floor, and it had a strong drain smell under the heavy perfume smell when I arrived. There was also a big bluebottle fly buzzing around. As other people have said, you need a cap for the pool. I didn't use it, so can't say more about it.

The price was good, and breakfast, the pool, and air-conditioning were all pluses. But the bed was lumpy, the Wi-Fi was poor, and the bathroom leaked. It's okay for a stopover, just don't count on a good night's sleep. Maybe we got an unusual room.

The reception and pool staff were really nice and helpful with suggestions for our time in Ostuni. The pool area was pleasant, and at €45 a night the price was low. The room didn't look like the pictures, though, and the Wi-Fi didn't work there. The floor had a lot of ant poison from infestations and smelled strongly of cleaning products. Our double bed was two singles pushed together, so we sank into the middle, and the toilet wouldn't flush properly. Breakfast was a self-serve buffet that felt chaotic because there weren't enough staff. One of my eggs was green and smelled off.

We arrived expecting to check in at 3pm, but the room wasn't ready. While waiting, we tried to eat some snacks by the pool and were told food wasn't allowed anywhere on the property. We got into the pool, then were immediately told to get out because we had no swimming caps and would need to buy them from the accommodation. Nobody had mentioned this before our stay, and we didn't want to pay for caps we'd never use elsewhere. They also said we couldn't swim with our hair tied up and out of the water, or even dangle our legs in the pool. The water looked milky, and the pool was extremely dirty, with green mould growing in it. When I asked for water to refill my bottle, they rudely refused, so we had to pay for water. An hour later the room still wasn't ready. Staff were rude and dismissive when we complained, and after another hour we were told to wait 30 more minutes. Once we finally got in, the room smelled of urine, wasn't clean, and didn't meet the 4 star quality we'd been promised. There was rubbish outside too. The website says Wi-Fi works throughout the resort, but it didn't work in our room or anywhere else. When we raised this, we just got a dismissive "sorry". We asked for a solution and were told that it doesn't really work because we're in the country. Then why advertise Wi-Fi? We won't be back, and I hope nobody else has to put up with this shocking hotel.
