Masseria Pugliese

Our group of 16, 13 adults, two children, and a baby, stayed for four nights after booking the whole Masseria Pugliese through Airbnb. Andrea and Francesca welcomed us and showed us around. There was plenty of room, and most bedrooms worked like small apartments, with private bathrooms and basic kitchen facilities. We gathered in the main kitchen and ate all our meals together. It has no full-size oven, though the mini oven handled pizzas and similar food. We also made good use of the BBQ on the upper terrace. We spent most of our time around the pool, which the kids loved. The owner was responsive on WhatsApp when anything came up. There’s no taxi service from the Masseria, but he helped us arrange transport for the group to our next stop by recommending a local taxi company. A few practical things: we had to buy basics such as salt and pepper, and a hire car was essential for supermarket trips because there are no shops within walking distance. There was also a quick mix-up about breakfast. The listing showed it as included, but apparently it isn’t when you book the entire property, which normally operates as a bed and breakfast for separate bookings. I’d check directly with the owner about what’s provided. I accidentally left two swimsuits behind and offered to collect them the next day, but they’d disappeared. If anyone comes across them, please contact me! :) All in all, a reliable property that we’d recommend.

A family-friendly place.

We spent a wonderful week at Masseria Pugliese. Our ground-floor place had a private patio, a lovely surprise, with a fig tree full of fruit that we ate. Erminio, please don’t cut it! The property is clean and well cared for, and we especially liked that its look hasn’t been reshaped to fit modern expectations. It felt like a stay in ancient rural Puglia while still having comforts such as a comfortable bed, an induction hob, and a gorgeous pool. Huge thanks to Erminio, his wife, and their gorgeous cat for such a dream week. P.S. I’ve seen negative reviews, probably from people who don’t understand or appreciate a place like this. I’d suggest those people choose a 4- or 5-star hotel in a soulless building.
