Bassa Prua

Our room was clean, with an amazing harbour view, and having local restaurants so close was just what we needed. The staff were amazing, and with a little help we even picked up some Italian. From the moment we arrived, we felt looked after. This was the best part of our tour from Australia to UK, Portugal, Ireland and Sardinia. The room was a good size for three to five days, and thankfully the AC worked well. We stayed for a few days in mid-August, right by the water in Palau, which was an amazing location. Breakfast was a little below average and served in the building next door. There wasn’t much on-site parking, so we had to pay for public parking, which wasn’t ideal. The staff spoke English, which helped a lot.

We had four rooms, but only room 4 was fine. We’d paid for a three person suite for room 1 and got a room for two instead. The AC didn’t work in rooms 2 and 3. In room 2 there was also a bug in the bed, and no hot water. It took a lot of back and forth before they offered a refund for our next four days, but we still had to pay for the first night despite all the problems. Then we had to find somewhere else at the last minute. I was annoyed they couldn’t do anything about the issues. I wish it had worked out, because we loved the location.

While cleaning, a hotel staff member broke my partner’s iPad. They refused to take responsibility for resolving it and then suggested we had broken it ourselves to extort money from them. Later they changed the story and said they’d “go through insurance.” That was four months ago, and we still haven’t heard anything. Be warned, if something goes wrong, they’ll blame you.
